2013 Jeep B segment SUV (Sub compact crossover) information
According to Autocar talked with Jeep CEO Mike Manley at 2011 Geneva Motor Show,The CEO reveal that Jeep is planing a B-segment (Supermini sized) SUV in 2013.“there’s definitely space in the market for a Jeep-brand B-segment SUV. We’re already working on a project that will meet that need, and expect to have the car on the road by 2013.”
The car is currently in develope as Fiat team in Italy is responsible for the project because the car will also get fiat’s version and market in 2013 as a replacement for Suzuki SX4 derived-Fiat sedici.Autoten thinks the car may fulfill a long time dream of Lancia to have a small SUV and we expect Fiat to rebadge this car in other brand apart from Jeep and Fiat too.
The car would likely be based on the new Fiat Grande Punto that means the car to be built in an all new chassis,new technical,new engineering and more enhanced features.Most models would be front-wheel drive and top of the line will get four-wheel drive.
Autocar said that Chrysler’s alliance with Fiat would be critical to providing engines and mechanicals for the this B segment SUV . Fiat’s 1.3 liter and 1.6 liter JDTm diesel engines, and it’s 1.4-liter MultiAir petrols, have strong posible to power the car.
Manley refers to as ‘the Wrangler bloodline’ will be very evident in the styling of the crossover hatchback: “imagine a slightly softer and smaller updated version of the Wrangler’s iconic grille and headlight design and you’ll have a good idea of how its front-end should look,” he said.
The car will be release in Europe as well as US.”It could be a breakthrough car in the US market as well,” said Manley. “At the moment, there’s little precedent for a subcompact SUVs selling in big numbers in North America, but we think that a car with the power of the Jeep brand.”
It was reported earlier that Jeep is aiming for global sales to reach 800,000 by 2014. That compares to 497,000 sold in 2008 and this car will be part of car that drive for this plan.
The car will be release in 2013 and will be competitor of Nissan Juke,Mini Countryman and Suzuki SX4. Including new extrance in the future from Chevrolet/Opel,Renualt,Hyundai,Volkswagen and Toyota.
