2011-2012 Next Generation Porsche Carrera spyshot, rendering and information
The new 911 is internally called the 998. Scheduled to arrive in late 2011, Porsche’s new bread and butter model will carry the old styling cues from current car and refreshed with styling cues from the new Panamera sport sedan,especialy the front-end design.
The base motor will be a 3.6 liter flat six,approximately 365 hp and 295 foot pounds of torque. The Carrera S will get a 3.8 liter flat six,approximately 415 hp and 325 foot pounds of torque. the body will build from mixture of steel, aluminum and plastic composites. they hope to lower weight by about 100 pounds. The Turbo will get active aerodynamics.
Gtspirit report that the car will feature a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and the seven-speed PDK (Porsche Doppel Kupplung) unit as an optional extra. Stop-start and a brake recuperation system are also planned. A the four-wheel-drive Carrera 4S is planned for October 2012 with performance variants (Turbo, GT3 and GT2) to follow later on.
Porsche has put serious effort into reducing emissions. Expect Porsche to market the 998 as even more of a green machine when it hits the market, probably sometime in 2011.
