2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe spyshot and information
Spies in Southern Germany managed to catch a series of photos featuring both a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe prototype and a crash test vehicle. While the prototype is masked by camouflage, the crash test unit does reveal quite a bit.
The new C-Class Coupe is expected to make its debut sometime next year as a 2011 sale year, wearing the front-end looks of the soon-to-be-facelifted C-Class sedan(expect to arrive early 2011). As these spy shots show, the Coupe’s proportions are more in line with the rest of the range, looking a bit like a down-sized E-Class Coupe.
The C-Class Coupe will replace the CLK when it goes on sale next year. Production will take place in Bremen, Germany, where other three C-Class models are built. Based on the same platform as E-Class Coupe it will go against the 3-Series Coupe.
The engine line-up expect to include: C180 CGI 1.8litre/156bhp, C250 CGI 1.8litre/204bhp, C350 CGI 3.5litre V6/306bhp, C220 CDI 2.2litre/170bhp and C250 CDI 2.2litre/204bhp
The AMG C-Class Coupe is considered likely to get the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that powers the other Mercedes AMG products such as the new CL-Class. The coupe may have both six-speed manual transmission and seven-speed automatic transmissions across the new range.
The production life for the C-Class Coupe won’t be too long(3-4 years) as the fourth-generation C-Class is expected to arrive in 2014
