Mitsubishi May Supply Small Cars,compact crossover to PSA

French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen is in talks with Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors on building an entry-level small car that could be built in Thailand, La Tribune reported last week. until now there’s unconfirm on the model but many media report that there’re strong posibility that will be the next generation Mitsubishi Colt but some media say that it’s will new car that smaller than Colt.
the car will based on low-cost “Global Small” platform and will launch in Japan in 2011 , export markets start in 2012 with an electric version going into production in 2013 .the international market the car will produce by Mitsubishi in Thailand in march 2012 (the pre production vehicle dua in september 2011) the car will feature Mitsubishi’s shark nose design.
according to reports, the companies will combine their collective might to produce cars with engines of between 1.0litre and 1.3litre capacity. Mitsubishi is scheduled to start making the new compact car in Thailand by the end of the first quarter of 2012 as part of Thailand’s eco car incentive programme. Production will then expand to emerging countries such as China, India and Brazil before PSA Peugeot Citroen introduces the models to the European market.the report said. It will consider mass-producing in China, India and Brazil, potentially making 400,000 to 500,000 cars a year in a few years, it said
The two companies have already collaborated for the electric Mitsubishi i-MiEV model that will be sold under the Peugeot and Citroen brands – as the Peugeot i0n and Citroen C-ZERO – in Europe.also the compact suv mitsubishi outlander ,Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser Now, they are joining forces again.
Peugeot and Citroen are due to launch their electric cars, the iOn and C-Zero, based on Mitsubishi’s iMiEV, later this year in Europe.
Also confirm in 2012,PSA will get it’s own version of Mitsubishi compact crossover ASX that will compet with Nissan Qashqai in Europe.

PSA Peugeot Citroen is working on two new models for emerging countries
A PSA spokesman confirmed the group was working on two new models for emerging countries for the longer term but declined to give any details on volume targets or timescale.
“In November we presented the 2010-12 line-up.these projects are undoubtedly outside that plan,” he said.
The group eventually seeks an 8% share of the Chinese market, against 3.5% in 2009. French paper Les Echos had reported that two new models, an entry-level small car known internally as “global small” and a mid-sized sedan known as “M3-M4″
