Hyundai to build lowcost $4,500 USD car in 2011
Hyundai Motor India Limited is making big plans to launch a small 800 cc car by the end of 2011. This development is based on increase in demand of small cars in India. The Hyundai 800 cc cars will be both available in Indian as well as exports markets.
Now Hyundai has going to launch its small car with an air-conditioning facility arround cost of INR 2.0 Lakhs. While Santro costs is INR271331 lakhs, Maruti 800 MPI BS-III with A/c costs Rs216475 lakhs & Spark with A/C cost is Rs.3.18 Lakhs. Its design will be prepared in Korea with an 800cc engine capacity & will be in petrol variant. Renault-Nissan-Bajaj trio also have plan to appear in small car market & working on it.
Hyundai is the biggest producer of small cars and this car would be in the line of maruti 800.
H S Lheem, Managing Director Hyundai Motors India said, “We hope to bring our smaller car than Santro, which will be an 800 cc vehicle, by 2011.”
The design of the car is going to be prepared at Korea while the research and development work has already been started at R&D centers at Hyderabad and Namyam. The company has assured to display its i20 car with a code name PB at the Paris Auto Tariff Show that is to be held on October 2.
Hyundai’s latest 800 cc car is expected to give tough competition to Maruti’s Alto and Spark.
