Nissan launched much await Nissan March/Micra
The new Global Compact Car, like the Nissan Micra successor also indicates, is on a new platform of Nissan. The “V platform.

Nissan will debut in April in Thailand.

The fourth generation Micra is available in 160 countries worldwide. Only two engines are on the program, a 1.2 driepitter with 80 hp with 108 Nm. This has a CO2 emissions of 115 grams per kilometer. It also comes with a 1.2 three-cylinder turbocharged direct-injection and a start-/stop systeem. This produces 98 hp and 142 Nm and has a gasoline engine without the support of a nice electric one CO2 emissions: 95 grams per kilometer.
Both engines can be combined with a five-speed manual or a CVT.

Nissan Micra, the new system to deliver one of the parking space is measured. It’s called parking space measurement, PSM.
By default, the new Micra two front airbags, curtain and side airbags and ESP is also on board.

Other news from Nissan at Geneva: the redesigned Qashqai new nose late show, electric Leaf can be seen and the new Pathfinder and Navara are experiencing their debut. Of course there is also the Juke.

While the Micra was developed primarily with Europe and Japan in mind, the new model will mostly target developing countries and the fast-growing Chinese market. In fact, it will first launch in Thailand in March. Europe gets the car in the fall of 2010.

The new model rides on the completely new V platform, which has been developed for a family of cars that is expected to deliver at least one million annual sales. This Micra replacement, the first model on the architecture, will be powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gas engine mated to a manual transmission or a CVT. There will also be a torquey 1.5-liter turbo-diesel, mainly for Europe.

The March/Micra was never the most exciting of minicars, but there was the occasional interesting variation, including a quirky coupe-convertible. With the new model, the focus clearly is on practicality instead of fun. Do we want it here? That depends on how expensive gas gets again in the near future

european version will built in India, sedan version will fellow in 2011

”In India we expect to make about 70,000 to 80,000 units in the first year of production, of which only 20 per cent will be for the Indian market and rest will be exported,” Nissan Motor Co Executive Vice President Collin Dodge told reporters at the Geneva Motor Show.

Micra will start rolling out from the Chennai unit of Renault Nissan by May.

He, however, declined to comment on the possible pricing of the compact car that is based on its global V platform. It is expected to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki ‘Swift’ and Hyundai ‘i20′.

“India will be an export base for this car to over 100 countries, and mostly to the matured markets like Europe,” Dodge said.

He added that manufacturing of Micra from the UK would be shifted to India once the company’s India unit starts production.

The sedan version of the car is likely to be rolled out by 2011, while the timeline for a multi-purpose vehicle is yet to be announced.

On the other products that Nissan has in India, Dodge said the company is mulling over assembling the imported vehicles, like sedan ‘Teana’ and SUV ‘Xtrail’, in the country to overcome the heavy burden of import duty.

“We are currently studying the economics of it… the import duty in India is 103 per cent and it is too high,” he said.

Last year Nissan had announced to have nine models in India by 2012, of which five would be made locally. It had said that it aimed to achieve a market share of 5.5 per cent in India in the future, which is equivalent to the global market share of Nissan. The Indian car market is at present pegged at over 1.2 million units annually.

The company along with its French parent Renault is investing Rs 4,500 crore under a joint venture Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd to set up the car plant in Chennai. The plant would have a total capacity of four lakh units annually once it is fully operationalised by both the partners.

Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said the company is expecting to sell a million units globally by 2013.

The North and South America launch will take place in early 2011. For North America, at least, the vehicle will not be the Micra/March, but a V-platform model. This will clearly be the next variant off the platform, and its timing suggests it will be launched at the Detroit show January 2011.
