The Chicago Auto Show is going great, and as we try to draw the maximum from the event, Toyota is hot on our list too. So, taking a hiatus from all the discussion over its recalled Prius, we introduce the all-new 2011 Avalon, right from the Toyota stand.
The 2011 Toyota Avalon will bring a little more refinement and some new features to the fore when it goes on sale in the summer. The 2011 Avalon is powered by a 24-valve, dual-overhead cam 3.5-liter V6 engine, which produces 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm. The engine is equipped with a newdual VVT-i electronic valve-control mechanism. It is mated to a multi-mode six-speed automatic transmission and is an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV), EPA-estimated to deliver 20 mpg in city, 29 on highway and 23 combined
Toyota defines its new 2011 Avalon as boldly redesigned which translates to a more substantial grille, new headlamps with front fog lamps integrated into a trapezoidal front bumper, chrome trim, redesigned rocker panels, and glare-resistant outer mirrors with integrated turn signals. The new 17-inch wheels on the Limited Edition get a 10-spoke design with a flashy mirror finish.
The interiors too have been given a revamp that includes highly readable gaugesthat use graduated white illumination with white pointers, the leather-trimmed front seats and seatbacks and thicker stitching on the seats. The upgraded equipment and technology pledge enhanced function and connectivity with a touch-screen navigation system with real-time traffic, Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB and 1/8-inch auxiliary connections for iPod and other audio devices.
Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Motor Sales U.S., unveiled the 2011 Toyota Avalon here that will go on sale this spring with “a wide array of safety features.”
“The Avaton has long been appreciated by smart, conscientious consumers who recognize quality materials and the beauty of detailed craftsmanship,” Carter said.
