Spy shots and Concept : Next-gen Chevrolet Aveo (codename T300) hatchback USA launch delayed until January 2011

The 2009 Chevrolet Aveo (codename T250) just began North American production in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, in August of 2008 , but GM is already be working on a replacement.

It won’t be on sale for until January 2011, however, due to GM’s current financial turmoil, which has also affected its Daewoo Auto and Technology South Korean subsidiary. The information was revealed in GM product development plans obtained by Reuters from an auto parts supplier.

The prototype definitely shares traits with the Spark, possibly reflecting a next-generation styling direction for Chevrolet’s small cars. The stacked double-circle tail lights, rear hatch/spoiler area and sloping roof line are all very similar between the two.the interior and exterior will not change much from the concept.

Underneath the sheet metal is GM’s Global Gamma II chassis, which is capable of spawning sedan, plus three- and five-door body styles.
The new Chevrolet Aveo (codename T300) is expected to go on sale in USA in January 2011, with production taking place at GM’s Orion Township plant.
