Japan report sell of passenger car and 660cc minivehicles in December 2009

For all of 2009, sales totalled 2,921,085 units, down 9.1
percent from a year earlier.
The following is a sales breakdown,excluding
660cc minivehicles, with percentage changes
from a year earlier for December:

Japanese sales of 660cc minivehicles
in December fell 0.5 percent from a year earlier to 122,134
units, the Japan Mini Vehicle Association said on Tuesday.

A breakdown of the sales data by company was as follows.

*Nissan Motor 11,868 (+47.6)
*Mazda Motor 3,063 (-7.5)
*Mazda sells Suzuki-made minivehicles under its own nameplate.
Nissan sells minicars made by Suzuki and and Mitsubishi Motors.
Minivehicles receive preferential tax treatment.
Automobile sales in Japan, excluding
660cc minivehicles, rose 36.5 percent in December from a year
earlier to 250,474 vehicles, the Japan Automobile Dealers
Association said on Tuesday.
